20 Moments That Will Define Upcoming DC Movies

16. Commissioner Gordon Is Dead? (Batman V Superman)

The Moment: If rumours are to be believed, Batman v Superman will not feature Commissioner Gordon, because he will be dead by the time the movie begins, commemorated with a memorial plaque. When It Will Happen: Off-screen, sadly, and rumours also suggest it might be at the hands of The Joker (which would make a lot of sense), though the plaque itself will reportedly appear in the film even if only for a brief moment. Why It Will Define The Movie: Because it's certainly a bold creative step, especially considering how firmly rooted in most viewers' minds Gary Oldman's superb take on the Gordon character is, as well as the fact that Christopher Nolan is serving as an advisory executive producer on the film. While not likely to be a huge component of the core plot, it's still going to be a pretty shocking creative flourish, and may well sow the seeds for more Batman-Joker mayhem in later movies if the Clown Prince's involvement turns out to be true.
