20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2018

16. Bumblebee (93%)

It wasn't exactly a shock when Bumblebee ended up the best-reviewed Transformers movie of all time, given that the majority of Michael Bay's five efforts have landed in the 15-35% region.

It seemed like a sure thing that this spin-off directed by Travis Knight - whose Kubo and the Two Strings scored 97% back in 2016 - would elevate the series' formula while perhaps not fully escaping its trappings.

Skewing upwards to 70-75% as expected would've been a solid result, yet thanks to an endearing, playful tone that reminded everyone why they even dug Transformers in the first place, Bumblebee scored near-universal praise from critics.

Bay got everyone's expectations so low over the course of his movies that it's easy to see why critics were so eager to laud Bumblebee. Even so, who saw 93% coming?
