20 Predictions For 2017's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
11. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (22%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "A turgid, belated continuation of Disney's enduring adventure franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales has little to offer beyond admittedly impressive visuals and a solid cast."
Only the first Pirates movie has a critically Fresh rating (the others have 54%, 45% and 32% respectively), so while Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg should ensure it looks nice, expect them to be the latest foreign directors lured to Hollywood and made subject to the blockbuster sausage factory.
Fingers crossed that a returning Orlando Bloom and solid new supporting cast add some swashbuckling fun to proceedings, but this one would need to be a real pleasant surprise to crawl anywhere near a Fresh rating. When mediocre will do, why would Disney put more effort in?
