20 Star Trek Actors Who Died In 2021

12. Christopher Plummer - General Chang

Originating the role of General Chang in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, before reprising it in Star Trek: Klingon Academy, Christopher Plummer is one of the most recognizable one-eyed Klingons to have ever graced Trekkies' screens. This Canadian actor was a veteran of the stage and screen for years before he donned the ridges.

Plummer was a Tony and Academy Award-winning actor, continuing to work right up until his death. In recent years, he famously played J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott's All The Money In The World, a last-minute casting that earned him an Oscar nomination.

He took part in William Shatner's documentary The Captains, speaking fondly of the opportunity to bring Shakespeare to the Klingon Empire. Though he would be widely recognized for his part as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound Of Music, he often joked how much he couldn't stand to rewatch the film.

He was starring in a leading role in the show Departure when he died, as Howard Lawson, the senior manager of an airline company who mysteriously loses one of their planes mid-flight.

He died on February 5th, 2021, at 91 years of age.
