20 Things You Didn't Know About The Rocky Horror Picture Show

14. The Costume Budget Was Just $1,600

Despite the film featuring a frankly ridiculous number of costumes for its large ensemble cast, the entire movie's wardrobe budget cost only $1,600.

Yet this was in fact quadruple that of the costume budget for the stage show, largely due to the need to create duplicate costumes for each character for the sake of continuity and practicality.

This proved especially tricky for the pool-set finale, which required two corsets to be created for every actor, allowing one to dry off while the other was being worn during shooting.

According to costume designer Sue Blane, the corsets alone cost $200, amounting to more than 10% of the entire wardrobe budget.
