15. Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene may not be the very worst film released this year so far, but it might be the dullest, and certainly one of the most disappointing.

The fact that a biblical drama starring Rooney Mara as the title character and Joaquin freaking Phoenix as Jesus Christ himself is this boring is, frankly, embarrassing.

Director Garth Davis (Top of the Lake) shoots for a meditative pace but makes the two hour runtime feel like an exercise in intentionally flagellating the audience.

On the minor plus side, it's probably a pretty good sleeping aid.

Worst Moment: Not so much a single moment - because honestly, what is there to remember? - but the fact that much of the dialogue is incomprehensibly mumbled because...reasons.
