2013 Superhero Movies: Predicting Worst To Best

3. Thor: The Dark World

Thor Dark World 40 Now we're hitting the big ones. Thor is undoubtedly among my favourite superhero films and probably my favourite of The Avengers phase one. It's critical and commercial success show that I'm not the only one. Still, not a hell of a lot is known about Thor: The Dark World yet; Marvel is still rolling out its number one star (Mr Downey Jr.) at the moment. What we do know is that Thor is coming off the runaway success of The Avengers and will be looking to replicate that box-office magic. With Alan Taylor of Game of Thrones success at the helm, is it hard to see why we're expecting big things? The plot outline so far tells us that we will be seeing a much more foreign story than what we have become accustomed to with most of the film set away from Earth. The return of Natalie Portman means we'll be further exploring the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster, which isn't entirely a bad thing. Let's just hope it doesn't interfere with the more beefy stuff that we want Marvel to address. While the villain choice isn't perfect, we can€™t really complain. Malekith may not be Enchantress or Surtur, but the dark elves should bring their fair share of fight to Asgaard. Some of the film has been filmed in underground tunnels in London. That should mean something cool right? And from what we've seen of the set photos there's a lot to be excited about so far. And, of course, there's the return of Loki. I'm looking forward to seeing what role he plays in all of this. Expected rating: 8.5/10 Thor: The Dark World comes out November 8th 2013
