25 Most Hotly Anticipated Movies Of Summer 2015

23. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Legend

Summer 2015
The Weinstein Company

Release Date: 28th August

A massive 15 years after the original hit cinemas to glorious critical acclaim, The Weinsteins are releasing a follow-up to netflix and IMAX, with Michelle Yeoh returning, and being joined by Jason Scott Lee, Donnie Yen and Glee's Harry Shum Jnr.

Selling Point

It's all about the original. You don't get 97% on Rotten Tomatoes without being exceptional. If you can remember back as far as 2000, you're likely to remember it being more than good enough to warrant a second go.

Reservations

Regardless of the pedigree of director Yuen Woo-ping, it's hard to resist the feeling that a Crouching Tiger film without Ang Lee is one without its visual soul.

Yes, Woo-ping might have previous with martial arts films, but the mainstream saturation of the original was just as much about its striking look as it was its content.

And 15 years is a long time for anyone to wait for a sequel.
