25 Most Hotly Anticipated Movies Of Summer 2016 - Ranked
2. X-Men: Apocalypse

Release Date: May 27th
Billed As: It's the end of the world as they know it. Only probably not, but it's definitely the one where Xavier finally goes bald.
Hype: Unfortunately, the decision to allow early reviews ahead of release has seemingly back-fired somewhat for Bryan Singer and Fox. Rather than being the fitting end to the new trilogy, Apocalypse sounds more like a whimper, with a villain who doesnt live up to billing.
But even with that critical apathy, Singers follow-up to Days Of Future Past remains a big name on the calendar. Even the most venomous of reviews mention that Apocalypse takes everything that worked for its predecessors and runs with it. So thats surely got to be a positive?
Theres a lot riding on Apocalypse (which is why the criticism is so frustrating), and the brand is still strong enough to ensure a big initial box office response.
