2. X-Men: Apocalypse

Release Date: May 27th

Billed As: It's the end of the world as they know it. Only probably not, but it's definitely the one where Xavier finally goes bald.

Hype: Unfortunately, the decision to allow early reviews ahead of release has seemingly back-fired somewhat for Bryan Singer and Fox. Rather than being the fitting end to the €œnew€ trilogy, Apocalypse sounds more like a whimper, with a villain who doesn€™t live up to billing.

But even with that critical apathy, Singer€™s follow-up to Days Of Future Past remains a big name on the calendar. Even the most venomous of reviews mention that Apocalypse takes everything that worked for its predecessors and runs with it. So that€™s surely got to be a positive?

There€™s a lot riding on Apocalypse (which is why the criticism is so frustrating), and the brand is still strong enough to ensure a big initial box office response.
