4. Sam Raimi's Car Reappears In Most Of His Movies
Nearly all directors have an actor or actors who they like to work with on multiple film projects. Sam Raimi must be the first to have this relationship with a car. Over the years Raimi's trusty 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (originally his father's car purchased when Sam was just 14) has been Uncle Ben's car in Spider-Man, Annie's in The Gift, Ash's car in the Evil Dead films and Mrs Ganoush's preferred transport in Drag Me To Hell. Unsurprisingly Raimi wasn't able to shoe-horn it into his most recent film, Oz the Great and Powerful.
3. R2-D2 & C-3PO Hieroglyphs In Raiders Of The Lost Ark
One of the things many people forget about Star Wars is that it's not strictly a sci-fi series but rather a fantasy. The film's narrative occurs 'a long time ago' and not in the future. To remind us of this fact George Lucas (who wrote both movies) managed to get an ancient hieroglyph depicting R2-D2 and C-3PO engraved on a column in a ruin explored by Indiana Jones.
2. Smoke From There Will Be Blood Ruined A Day's Shooting For No Country For Old Men
2007 was a particularly strong cinematic year with No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood involved in a closely fought battle for Oscars. However, this rivalry started long before the 80th Academy Awards. Both films were shot in neighboring location in Texas and one day the smoke from a burning oil derrick in There Will Be Blood ruined a shot for the Coens and forced them to delay shooting by a day. In the end No Country For Old Men received four Academy Awards compared to There Will Be Blood's two, though Paul Thomas Anderson's movie got the Best Picture nod.
1. George Lucas Didn't Allow Princess Leia To Wear Underwear (Star Wars)
The world of Star Wars is presented as being very different but at the same time the eerily similar to our own. Themes like poverty, political unrest, love and friendships are common in both our galaxies. Despite this fact, George Lucas was able to convince Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) not to wear underwear as 'there is no underwear in outer space'... Highly amusing but at the same time extremely creepy.
