5 Directors Who Could Make A Great Aquaman Movie

3. Alfonso Cuaron

Alfonsocuaron600 If Mike Newell isn't your style, how about another Harry Potter alum, Alfonso Cuaron? The Academy Award winning director helmed one of the series' best entries, The Prisoner of Azkaban, and just took home a Best Director Oscar for last year's impressive Gravity. Cuaron's work on Gravity proves that he can handle the tricky technology needed to effectively make a challenging and gripping effects-driven project. Many of Gravity's scenes were filmed underwater, and then seamlessly transformed into the outer space sequences that wowed audiences last fall. We dare you to come up with someone who wouldn't have a better handle on Aquaman's demanding filmmaking process. Cuaron's work on smaller, character-driven films like Children of Men and Y Tu Mama Tambien prove that he could not only deliver on the special effects front, but give us a compelling character story as well. Then there's his work on Azkaban, that shows that he can handle both the technical stuff and the ever-important character stuff in the same film. He almost directed Warner Brothers' Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but since he didn't land that role, perhaps the studio could offer him a superhero tentpole instead?
