5 Pixar Movies That Are More For Adults Than Children

2. Finding Nemo

The premise of Finding Nemo is still the darkest setup for a story Pixar have ever come up with. After witnessing his son (Nemo) being taken away from him, Marlin must venture across the vast ocean in order to get him back.

For obvious reasons, the pain of losing a child and doing anything to try and find them is particularly hard-hitting for parents to watch. Indeed, Marlin’s desperation as Nemo is taken away from him is especially traumatic.

Finding Nemo is also mature when it comes to its central theme – overprotection. The reason Nemo was taken in the first place was that he was angry at his father for embarrassing him. And it’s only when Marlin allows Nemo to help a group of fish during the film's climax that he realises how capable his son is.

The majority of Pixar movies tend to carry a message that’s easy for children to understand. Finding Nemo, however, was designed to teach the adults in the audience a valuable lesson.
