50 God-Tier Acting Moments Buried in Bad Movies
44. Jango & Obi-Wan's Meeting - Attack Of The Clones
Moments of strong acting in the Star Wars Prequels are a rarity, for, thanks to George Lucas' inefficiency at directing actors, this is one of the worst-performed series of films you'll ever see.
Out of the three movies, Attack of the Clones, the frequently exasperating (if occasionally brilliant) middle chapter is the shortest on such moments, with so much of the movie being taken up by Anakin and Padme's risible love story. That's not to say they don't exist, mind you, and a frequently underrated moment of subtle yet effective acting comes when Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison) meet for the first time.
McGregor and Morrison were, aside from Christopher Lee (playing main antagonist Count Dooku), the best actors in Attack of the Clones by a clear mile, so this scene is devoid of the cringey acting that let down the rest of the movie. In this moment, the two men size each other up and face off, throwing shade at each other with loaded looks. Though neither of them explicitly says it, both know who the other is, and both are threatening each other, conveying a warning tone through their voices. You cut the tension in this scene with a knife.
