6 Aborted Superman Movies You Almost Got To See

1. George Miller€™s Justice League Mortal

D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, the Tower of Babel story arc exploding to life on the big screen - these are just a few of the things we missed out on when George Miller€™s Justice League Mortal was canned in 2009. The Mad Max: Fury Road director€™s take on superheroism has been described as allegorical and compared to Greek mythology. Had the film moved ahead, it would have seen the team go toe to toe with Maxwell Lord and Talia Al Ghul - and bicker among themselves, no doubt. Other confirmed casting includes Adam Brody as The Flash, Common as Green Lantern, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter. Some of those choices might raise eyebrows, but after watching Fury Road, it€™s safe to say that Mortal would have been a spectacle at the very least. Script problems, not helped by the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike, false starts and masses of red tape ultimately derailed this one. Timing was critical and the stars simply failed to align for Miller and Warner Bros. But fans only have a couple of years to wait before DC Comics€™ superhero team assembles on the big screen, as Justice League: Part One is pencilled in for 2017 with Snyder at the hem. And, if you€™re desperate for more tidbits about what Miller€™s Justice League would have entailed, a documentary recounting the ill-fated projects fate is also in the works.
