6 Huge Star Wars Movie Rumours You Need To Know
2. Robert Downey Jr Is Being Eyed For A Role
Robert Downey Jr's post-Marvel career hasn't really got off to a great start. Dolittle flopped, Sherlock Holmes 3 is taking forever to come together, and overall, it feels like the excitement surrounding his name has dwindled at an alarming pace.
So what better way to reinvigorate some of that excitement than by venturing into the Star Wars universe?
Addressing the fan speculation surrounding Grand Admiral Thrawn in a tweet that has since been deleted, Noah Outlaw from Kessel Run Transmissions (a relatively reliable source for Star Wars scoops) said the following:
"[Robert Downey Jr.] is not Thrawn. Now, I will say... [Lucasfilm] has talked to [Downey] about being in a future Star Wars project."
While "project" implies that this could be a TV show or a movie, what if Downey is being lined up to appear in that aforementioned Kevin Feige Star Wars movie?
When The Hollywood Reporter first revealed the existence of that project, they noted that "Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play". Was that "major actor" none other than Robert Downey Jr?
Feige and RDJ took over the world with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an unprecedented ten-year streak of box-office hits, proving that they're a formidable, bankable duo. You couldn't blame Lucasfilm if they wanted a slice of that action.
