Sophie Turner seemed like a great pick for young Jean Grey; she’s proven to a fine actress thanks to Game Of Thrones, and X-Men: Apocalypse should have introduced her to a whole new audience.

Sadly, she proved to be the weakest member of the ensemble. She appeared stiff and uncomfortable and had a tough time maintaining her accent. Instead of coming across strong and independent like the character should, she was aloof and cold, and looks totally incapable of following up Apocalypse with the Phoenix Saga.

It didn’t help Turner was following in the footsteps of Famke Janssen, who nailed the part. Maybe Turner needs more time to grow into the role, but an actress like Saoirse Ronan or Emma Stone could do wonders with the character without any lead in time.
