8 MCU Characters Who Deserve Their Own Movie

5. James Rhodes/War Machine

Like Hulk, James Rhodes/War Machine is a character who went through a cast switch-up. Played in Iron Man (2008) by Terence Howard, Don Cheadle took the mantle in Iron Man 2 (2010) and was last seen in Endgame as one of the few survivors of the Snap.

Around since day one of the franchise, Rhodes has had a brilliant arc spread over seven movies, during which time he has fought Whiplash, helped take down Aldrich Killian, assisted in the Battle of Sokovia, fought Thanos' armies (twice) and helped retrieve the Infinity Stones.

Throughout this, he has always played second fiddle to his best friend, Tony Stark. With Tony's sacrifice in Endgame, it might be time for Rhodes to go solo.

A solo movie would also give Marvel the chance to explore what kind of effect Tony's death had on him. They were best friends, after all, and as proven with Spiderman: Far From Home (2019), Iron Man's influence on the lives of those closest to him was biblical.

A solo outing could allow Cheadle to say goodbye to the role and give him a satisfying ending, or it could allow Rhodes to become an even bigger player in future installments. Whatever the case, it would sure make for a exciting move for the franchise.
