In the first Back To The Future, Crispin Glover creates an unforgettable performance as Marty's father George McFly, the anxious teen with no people skills in which Marty makes it his mission to help him fall in love with his mother.

Throughout filming however, the filmmakers encountered a variety of challenges from Glover which prevented him from continuing with the future sequels. The first problem began on day one of shooting, where Glover turned up late with a new haircut much to the surprise of everyone on set, creating the choppy straight look and sheered sides that had no choice but to be shown on screen for the duration of the shoot.

There were other times throughout the making of the movie in which the actor would make his own choices about the character. For the school cafeteria scene, Zemeckis and Gale recall Glover not staying still when saying his lines in which the response was that George was a nervous character. Biff Tannen actor Tom Wilson was also subject to painful consequences after the method actor decided to hold on too tight in the fight scenes.
