I've written before about how 2016 is going to be the last great year for the comic book movie boom, and that once 2017 hits, we're going to be hearing the death rattles of the genre. And while I still believe that to be mostly true (although I really am rooting for DC and Marvel properties to persevere), that doesn't mean we shouldn't all enjoy the miraculous bounty being placed at our popcorn grease-covered feet! Here's what we're getting over the next twelve months: Deadpool, Batman v. Superman, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Gambit, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. After reading them all lumped together like that, it's impossible not to get a bit of a nerd-rection. (Or a geek chub, if you prefer.) It's not a guarantee that all of these will be as fantastic as they appear on paper or in the trailers, but there's a pretty decent chance that at least 5 of these 7 prove to be essential additions to the comic book movie canon.
