2. Still No Venom Or Sinister Six
While the prospect of a Venom movie with Alex Kurtzman at the helm is hardly an exciting one, a movie for that character - whether it's the Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson iteration - is still long overdue. The same can be said about Sinister Six. While fans initially recoiled at the prospect of that villain led release, recent comments from writer and director Drew Goddard have made it clear that Spider-Man was going to have a major role, thereby making it the Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six movie fans have been dreaming of since the Sam Raimi days. However, both of those - along with the planned female led spinoff - have been put on indefinite hold as the focus is put on getting Spider-Man right. That's obviously a sensible decision, but it's also one which keeps these characters off the big screen for even longer. So, looking at things from a glass half empty perspective, if Marvel's Spider-Man fails to live up to expectations, not only will that have been a let down, but both Venom and the Sinister Six will have suffered too. Even if this new version of Spider-Man does succeed, chances are it's still going to be a long time until these characters get a chance to shine in a movie, and it's hard to not feel slightly resentful about that.
