8 Ways Doctor Strange Is Basically The New Iron Man
2. Consistent Use Of Humour And Sarcasm
Without question, the biggest similarity between the personalities of Strange and Stark is the fact that both frequently fall back on their sharp tongue. Most of Strange's conversations with Wong consisted of amusing pop-culture references, and he was more than a little sarcastic, smug and arrogant during the handful of scenes before his accident.
Similarly, Stark's wit, humour and banter are the character's defining traits, and part of what makes him so appealing. If he was cold, sombre and dull, would his trilogy of movies, and even the MCU as a whole, be the juggernaut it is today? Probably not. It would still be successful - after all, Captain America is no comedian and he's doing just fine - but it wouldn't be to this degree. That likability is the key, and audiences unabashedly love a smart-ass.
Strange is treading Iron Man's path here, too; his cape even garnered a few chuckles, and smaller lines, like his final words to Thor - "Great! Allow me to help you" - were delivered with all the cocksure superiority of a Tony Stark impression artist.
This level of confidence and swagger makes him insanely enjoyable to watch in the same way Iron Man was back in 2008; Marvel have emphasized humour ever since and there's no reason to assume they won't carry this torch forward, and it looks like Doctor Strange will be the bearer.
