9 Classic Movies With Insane Unofficial Sequels
2. Jaws In Japan
When it comes to bad sequels you can’t really go wrong with Jaws: The Revenge, which was so bad it killed a lucrative franchise on the spot. Apparently Spielberg has had a hand in making sure no further sequels or reboots are attempted; though sneaky foreign producers won’t let a silly thing like copyright stifle their creative vision.
In Italy, a movie called Cruel Jaws billed itself as Jaws 5 and even stole footage from the series to save money on building their own shark. Without a doubt, however, the craziest unofficial sequel is Jaws In Japan which, like the title suggests, shows what happens when Bruce vacations in Japan.
The movie – also called Psycho Shark – mostly follows buxom Japanese ladies clad in bikinis while they film each other, get stalked by a serial killer and – in an ending that might be a surreal work of art – get eaten by a terrible looking CGI shark. Yes, it is terrible, but it’s somehow more fun than Jaws 3-D; go figure.
