9 Upcoming Movies That Could Be Franchise Killers
6. Hellraiser: Judgement
Somehow nine Hellraiser movies alreawdy exist, but most fans stopped counting after the fourth movie took Pinhead to space. For years, a remake has been rumoured and discussed, but the studio behind the series has never been able to make it come together.
In 2011, there was super cheap straight-to-DVD follow-up Revelations that was made with the sole purpose of retaining the rights. Franchise star Doug Bradley – who played the iconic Pinhead – refused to return and it’s commonly regarded as the worst instalment. History repeats itself in 2016, where the studio has again failed to produce a remake, instead giving us the tenth (!) instalment. Hellraiser: Judgement, which is now in post-production.
Again Doug Bradley refused to return, and while it seems they’ve spent a little more time and money on this one, all the warning signs are still there; a rushed schedule and production has rarely produced a great movie. At this stage the Hellraiser series has kind of fallen off the radar of most moviegoers, and the only thing this new cheapie sequel will do is destroy whatever remaining credibility it still has.
