6. Daniels Is Ripley's Mother

The Rumour: Daniels is in fact the mother of the series' original protagonist, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver).

How Likely Is It?: Director Ridley Scott and star Katherine Waterston have both denied it, but of course, it's their prerogative to do that.

It's easy to see how, in an age of overwhelming nostalgia, a screenwriter might be tempted to give the movie a more direct biological link to the original Alien movies, but it would probably just be way too forced and contrived to be believable.

Plus, Scott has insisted that Daniels has her own agency rather than merely being Ripley 2.0., so it would massively undermine such a comment if he was lying.

It probably won't happen, but nothing is certain yet. 3/10
