3. How Do The Alien Eggs End Up On The Derelict?

The reveal that David created the xenomorph eggs creates a giant headache for the overarching Alien continuity, namely that if he is indeed the original creator, and all the Engineers have been wiped out by his terrorist attack, then how the Hell do those thousands of eggs end up in the derelict from the first movie, some 18 years later?

It's going to require some tricky maneuvering from Scott to explain this convincingly, though the likelihood at this point is that he simply won't, and again just leave things up in the air. Sure, it's possible that, somehow, David transforms the Covenant's colonists into alien eggs, but that has the potential to feel incredibly forced, no?
