5. The Defenders Play A Role
Even though Marvel's TV shows and movies exist in the same universe, they don't tend to impact one another, save for a few minor references. So far, the studio has got away with it - there hasn't really been a situation in the movies that needed a TV character show up but in Infinity War, that will change. With the planet in danger, there's simply no way that The Defenders would turn a blind eye.
One thing that Jessica Jones and Daredevil beat us over the head with was how much these characters love their city - New York. If it's in danger... they'll fight for it! Since Thanos is after the Infinity Stones, he'll have to track down the Mind Gem, held by Vision, and take it by force. From Civil War, we know that Vision is based in The New Avengers facility along with a couple of other characters. And where is this facility located?
Upstate New York.
This in mind, it's likely that the Big Apple will feature a battle or two, and when that happens, we have to see The Defenders. Whether it's a brief appearance in the background or some shaky news footage, a small role for these characters would make sense given the level of destruction Thanos is destined to cause.
In any event, why wouldn't a bulletproof man, a woman with superhuman strength and two expert fighters want to chip in for the good of the cause?
