2. Gamora

Cause of Death: Massive head trauma.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana) enjoyed significant character development in Infinity War, as the relationship between herself and her adoptive father Thanos was explored with welcome depth.

This was all just leading to her death, though, as she escorts Thanos to Vormir in search of the Soul Stone, in order to save Nebula's life. It's a superbly executed sequence, from the surprise appearance of Red Skull (Ross Marquand) to Gamora's incorrect belief that Thanos didn't love her, and his subsequent shedding of tears.

It's an extremely shocking moment that elevates both Gamora and Thanos as characters, with a fitting brutality that only further highlights just how much of a sacrifice it is for Thanos.

While her death probably won't stick given that James Gunn has already mentioned she's got a large role in Guardians Vol. 3 - unless he was trolling fans all along - it's nevertheless arguably the best scene in the entire movie.
