Batman Vs Superman: 10 Last-Minute Hopes Fans Are Clinging To

3. It Won€™t Just Try To Ape The MCU's Tone

Personally, I€™m hoping that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice doesn€™t try to ape the tone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In one of the trailers, Superman asks €˜is she with you?€™ - regarding Wonder Woman - and Batman responds with €˜I thought she was with you!€™ This line feels like a deliberate attempt to capture that jokey bantering tone of the MCU team-up movies, which has me a little worried. It€™s important to remember that Bruce Wayne isn€™t Tony Stark. He€™s a tortured character who has never got over the death of his parents, not just another wealthy businessman with a snazzy suit and a sarcastic sense of humour. This film should embrace that, rather than shunning it to the side and trying to establish Batman a generic joke-making Marvel-esque hero instead. Hopefully, this line will be an isolated incident of attempted MCU-aping, and the rest of the film will confidently carve out its own tone rather than copying what audiences have seen before. Fans don€™t want to see Batman and Superman fighting for five minutes before becoming mates and cracking jokes. It would be more fun to see these characters really hating each other, because that something which isn€™t so common in superhero films at the moment.
