Billy Crystal: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Harry Burns - When Harry Met Sally

What else could have been number one?

When Harry Met Sally is perhaps the greatest rom-com of all time, and it was the film that made stars out of both Crystal and Meg Ryan. It€™s the simple story of boy meets girl, boy hates girl, then boy loves girl and things get super complicated from there.

The film is littered with great performances and dialogue (€œI€™ll have what she€™s having€ etc) and Crystal was never better than he was here; he€™s funny, charming and occasionally a bit of a douche. It helps that he's working from a great script here, so he gets to play a flushed out character and still have killer lines to deliver.

He also nails the emotional scenes, with his New Year declaration of love for Sally reducing many a woman €“ and let€™s be honest here, many a man €“ to tears. The movie is his best work, and though he never quite got handed a script this good again, he more than sealed his cinematic legacy here.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
