Captain America: Civil War - 10 Big Implications Of Hulk & Thor's Absence

Two massive holes - one Green Goliath-shaped, one Thunder God-shaped.

At the finale of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hulk headed off in a S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet to parts unknown in order to isolate himself from civilisation, while Thor headed back to Asgard in order to investigate what his vision had told him earlier in the movie. Aside from upsetting the fans of both Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, the absences of Hulk and Thor will have a profound effect on the events of the movie and the characters in it...

10. General Ross Will Be A Lot Less Interesting

The addition of William Hurt's General Ross to the cast of Captain America: Civil War was an exciting one - or at least it was until it was confirmed that Mark Ruffalo's Hulk would be sitting it out. Ross' relentless pursuit and hatred of the Hulk was the most interesting aspect of 2008's The Incredible Hulk - his already-cartoonish ego was inflated by that hatred to the extent that he was virtually a monster himself - and it would have been cool to see how his chemistry with Ruffalo worked out. Without the presence of the Hulk, it now seems like a somewhat pointless addition. Sure, he'll probably be a part of the pro-legislation movement that insists on superhumans registering with the government - which does tie in with his thoughts on the Hulk - but the main thing his character is known for will be missing and you can't help but feel that an abundance of other figures could have been used in the same role (or, given the massive cast, that he could just have been left out completely with nobody taking his place to reduce cramming).
