Captain America: Civil War - 10 Characters That Could Steal The Show

3. Baron Zemo

Due to the fact that 99% of the hype surrounding Captain America: Civil War has focused on the idea of Earth€™s Mightiest Heroes beating the living daylights out of each other, it€™s easy to forget that there€™s actually going to be a significant villainous presence in the movie as well. Rush star Daniel Brühl will make his MCU debut as Baron Zemo, a supervillain ranking highly within HYDRA. If the film can find enough screen time to allocate to Zemo, or even position him as a mastermind behind the whole thing, he could be a real standout. It's not like the Zemo family hasn't already long been a source of immense villainous prowess in the comics. First came Heinrich Zemo, a super-strong scientific genius from the World War 2 era. Later, Helmut Zemo took up the villainous mantle and avenged Heinrich€™s death (which he blamed on Cap). A Neo-Nazi hell-bent on revenge is the last thing that Steve Rogers will need during Civil War, as he€™s set to be pretty busy fighting his own friends. This means that when Brühl shows up (I€™m assuming that he€™s playing Helmut Zemo here, which seems most logical), he could have something close to villainous free range because Cap is too preoccupied to stop him. And that may have been his plan all along.
