Casting The Perfect Red Dead Redemption Film
9. Ian McShane As Dutch Van Der Linde
Dutch would describe himself as the American equivalent of Robin Hood, the personification of the Wild West and a champion for true freedom and liberty in the face of government oppression. But the actions of Dutch and his gang would prove that they were no better than any common outlaw.
Throughout Marstons hunt for Dutch, we hear him reminisce about what kind of man he really was and how important he was to Marston and other members of the gang. In some instances, Dutch sounds like an honourable and kind man. But when Marston finally tracks him down, we see him at his most dangerous and most savage.
The years had not been kind to him, but he still has the same silver tongued bandit leader that was able to entice the downtrodden and vulnerable into working for him.
Ian McShane seems like the ideal actor to turn to in order to bring this anarchistic-spouting gang leader to life.
Like a few others on this list, McShane has a wealth of experience with characters like Dutch and could steal the show if he was ever given the part.
