Comic Con 2018: 10 Things We Wanted Announced (But Weren't)
6. Marvel's Fantastic Four
In the past few years, talks between Marvel Studios and Fox have become increasingly prolific. Following Marvel's game-changing deal with Sony, to share Spider-Man, Fox suddenly seemed more game to play nicely with them. This started with Fox being willing to trade some characters with Marvel for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, before developing into even more, with the two collaborating on television projects such as Legion.
All of this to say that even before the Disney/Fox merger was on the table, Marvel and Fox were working together in ways both big and small. One of the most heavily rumored reports was that Fox had traded the Fantastic Four over to Marvel Studios so that Marvel would allow them to use their characters in television shows.
Though Marvel did not have a panel this year at Comic-Con, the surprise announcement of a Marvel Studios Fantastic Four film for Phase 4 would have absolutely lit the place up. Marvel's first family has seen some absolutely horrendous cinematic treatment over the years at the hands of Fox, but thankfully, Marvel getting them means that they will (hopefully) be getting their due very soon.
