Of course, what all of this is building up to kind of is in the vein of Marvel's overarching plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The biggest movies on a release schedule that's positively heaving with blockbusters (besides all the superhero malarkey there's a trilogy of Harry Potter spin-offs and a bunch of LEGO Movie sequels) are not one but two Justice League films, set to be directed by Zack Snyder in lieu of him continuing with the Man of Steel series. That'd be a pretty big deal even with the Avengers hadn't been such a box office smash - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman and The Flash, finally together on the big screen. There have been countless attempts to put together a Justice League film over the year, with directors including George Miller and Wolfgang Petersen set to helm them, as Warner Bros attempted to coax existing stars like Christian Bale or new actors such as Armie Hammer into the central roles. None of them ever really came off, and most fans were resigned to the fact that bringing such a huge series to the screen wasn't financially viable. Well, Avengers very much proved otherwise, and now we can look forward to not one but two Justice League films starring all the aforementioned heroes in 2017 and 2019 - if you can wait that long...
