DCEU: 10 Mistakes Warner Bros. Has Made With Its DC Slate

2. It's Not Building To Anything

At the end of 2008's Iron Man, Tony Stark was confronted by Nick Fury in his Malibu home and learned of the "Avengers Initiative." Since then, fans have always had one eye looking toward the future when watching films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and wondering what comes next has become part of the fun for moviegoers.

Unfortunately, that's not the case with the DCEU, as it's no longer building towards anything. Instead, we're just getting a random selection of movies which may or may not loosely tie into each other. Some of those will be good, others will not, but they won't have much meaning beyond what we see across that two-hour period.

The Suicide Squad is a good example, because while we're sure it will be fantastic with James Gunn at the helm, it's unlikely to build on what Birds of Prey did with Harley Quinn. There also aren't any crossovers in the works as of right now, and so nothing we see is either building into the next adventure or an eventual event of any sort.

For comic book fans, that's not very exciting, and seeing as Warner Bros. owns all of these characters, you'd think they would have something in store for us down the line. Nope!
