10. I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House
Those in the market for a moody, atmospheric and minimalist horror flick would do well to check out the second film from writer-director Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat's Daughter).
While its quiet, even slow approach won't be for all tastes and it doesn't do a terribly great job of hiding its budget, lead Ruth Wilson gives a magnificent performance as a live-in nurse who begins to suspect her place of employment is haunted.
With more than a handful of stylistic nods to both David Lynch and Roman Polanski, those who like their horror restrained and cerebral should find plenty to enjoy, though even for patient viewers it might feel a little on the plodding side from time to time.
