Nominations: 6 - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), Best Supporting Actress (Lesley Manville), Best Original Score, Best Costume Design

Paul Thomas Anderson adds another challenging and unforgettable masterwork to his impeccable filmography with Phantom Thread, which gives Daniel Day-Lewis a stonker of a final role to retire on, and characteristically, he lives up to expectations.

As his co-star, Vicky Krieps is also magnificent yet was curiously snubbed for a Best Actress nod, while Lesley Manville earned her first, long-deserved Oscar nod for her marvelous supporting role.

It won't land with everyone, but the film's unconventional relationship drama, surprisingly cheeky humour and gorgeous visuals make it another winning addition to Anderson's cachet of work.
