Every Coen Brothers Movie Ranked Worst To Best

1. No Country For Old Men (2007)

The Coen Brothers' most critically acclaimed movie, No Country For Old Men took home four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for the bone-chilling performance of Javier Bardem. All of this film's praise is warranted, and it would be fair to say that it's one of the best movies of the 21st century - a gripping, quiet, and thoroughly engaging neo-western crime drama that showcases every aspect of the Brothers' skills.

Based on Cormac McCarthy's novel of the same name, the film sees a hunter called Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) going on the run after finding a briefcase of money in the desert. He is then hunted by the hitman Anton Chigurh (Bardem) whilst Sheriff Ed Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) tries to figure out what's going on.

It's dark, clever, twisted, violent, even darkly funny and moving. Bardem and Brolin are both phenomenal, but it is Jones who steals the show in the movie's final moments, giving a speech so haunting and powerful to end the film that it's guaranteed to leave you reeling and questioning everything you've just seen in the best possible way.

Joel and Ethan Coen have had many great films, but none as perfect as this cinematic masterpiece.
