Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best
2. The Aviator (2004)
Of all the brilliant movies they've created together, The Aviator remains DiCaprio and Scorsese's true masterpiece, as well as the first film to hint at a more mature, grown-up actor lurking underneath DiCaprio's lingering status as a youthful heartthrob.
As Hollywood legend Howard Hughes, DiCaprio utilises his charm to continuously shock audiences with how damaged and vulnerable he really is, deftly capturing not just Hughes' heroism and dangerous need for perfection, but also the crippling OCD that would eventually be his undoing.
The Aviator is sombre and haunting, and whilst Martin Scorsese's rich direction and its stunning set design is impossible to forget, it's DiCaprio's heartbreakingly true and transformative portrayal of mental anguish that keeps you glued to the screen.
