Every Spider-Man Movie Ranked Worst To Best

5. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

There was absolutely no need to reboot Spider-Man barely a decade after Sam Raimi had offered up such a great origin story, but Sony needed to hold on to the rights of the character with the MCU becoming increasingly powerful, so they went back to the drawing board.

Their plan of action saw Andrew Garfield hired as a younger, edgier Peter Parker, MJ avoided with Gwen Stacy introduced as the romantic choice and Lizard for some reason chosen as the key villain to launch a franchise.

It's far from a disastrous movie, but it doesn't do enough to warrant its own existence. It can't compete with Raimi's work, and even though there's a new villain, the story still feels recycled and the addition of the mystery of Peter's parents' death is just distracting nonsense.
