Friday The 13th Series: Jason's 10 Best Kills
6. Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan - Julius
Jason Takes Manhattan isn't generally held in the highest regard among Friday the 13th fans. For one thing, it should really be called Jason Takes A Cruise, as the vast majority of the film is set on a ship sailing to New York City, rather than in the city itself. On top of this, it boast some really idiotic plot devices (even by Friday the 13th standards), and under-performed badly enough at the box office to temporarily kill off the series.
That said, the eighth Friday the 13th is not without its memorable moments. We have an early appearance by Kelly Hu, and Jason's only instance to date of murder by electric guitar (hot pink flying V, to be precise - it was the 80s, after all). However, the film's greatest moment comes once the action hits the Big Apple, in a rooftop confrontation between Jason and Julius (VC Dupree).
We should of course note straight away that, for once, the black guy made it all the way to the final act - but, like everybody else, he's gotta go, and no one could ask for better send off. Deciding to try his luck, the high school boxer gives Jason all he's got with his fists; the mighty killing machine just stands there and takes it.
And once Julius has run out of strength, Jason finally hits back - and that one punch knocks his head clean off, and sends it hurtling down the rafters before crashing into a dumpster which slams shut on top. TKO, and then some.
