Godzilla: 20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know

11. Godzilla Talks!

The 1972 film, War of the Monsters, has Godzilla teaming up with Angurius to battle a hook-handed chicken alien. (That sounds ridiculous but he's a really cool villain). At this point, the franchise had grown stale and most of the films had a reputation for being non-sensical and goofy.

But War of the Monsters might have the weirdest moment in the history of Godzilla. At one point, Godzilla speaks to Anguirus in English.

The conversation goes like this -

Godzilla: Hey, Agira.

Anguirus: What do you want?

Godzilla: Something funny is going on. You better check.

Anguirus: Okay.

Godzilla: Hurry up! Hey Agira! Come on! There’s a lot of trouble ahead!

You might be wondering why Godzilla refers to Anguirus as "Agira." I have no idea.

Also, this scene has nothing to do with the plot nor is it mentioned again. To understand how surreal this scene is, look at this way. Imagine after watching eight Star Wars films, Chewbacca suddenly spoke in perfect English without explanation and none of the characters point out how odd it is that he's never been able to speak beforehand.

Nevertheless, this is the best part of an otherwise forgettable film.
