Godzilla: 20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know

14. The Alternative Titles For The Films Are Hilarious

It's pretty confusing when one is trying to track down specific Godzilla films since nearly all of them have at least one alternative title. Some of them have three or four or even five different titles!

When the first sequel, Godzilla Raids Again, was released, its title was changed to Gigantis the Fire Monster when it debuted in the United States because the American producer thought more people would watch it if they thought it revolved around a brand-new monster. The producer deeply regretted this decision since the film tanked in the US but did well in Japan.

Some of the alternative titles give no indication that Godzilla is in the film. In some countries, Godzilla vs Monster Zero is called Invasion of Planet X, Invasion of the Astro-Monster, Order Out of the Dark, and Battle of the Astros?

Probably the weirdest one is Godzilla vs Megalon. In Spain, the film is called Gorgo and Superman in Tokyo. In case you were wondering, the story is not set in Tokyo, there is no Superman, and I have no idea who Gorgo is.
