Director Chad Stahelski certainly had one hell of a task on his hands topping the exuberant violence of the previous film's set-pieces yet he somehow just about managed it.

It seems impossible for anyone to complain that this film doesn't have enough action - the first act alone boasts several dynamic and thunderously entertaining action sequences basically back-to-back.

And what's really great is how distinct all these scenes feel from one another - there are individual scenes involving books, knives, horses, dogs, motorcycles and so much more, ensuring the film never devolves into chaotic, repetitive monotony.

And while even many great action films never really get under the skin on a visceral level, thanks to crunchy sound design and liberal blood-letting, viewers are sure to cringe and gasp as Wick unleashes vengeance upon anyone who crosses him.
