John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs
6. It's Visually STUNNING
As if the riveting action wasn't enough, much like its predecessors, this is an exceptionally ravishing film, with the previous film's cinematographer Dan Laustsen returning to lens the hell out of every frame in this movie.
Dialogues and shootouts alike are gorgeously lit for maximum stylised flair, while returning editor Evan Schiff once again makes kinetic gold out of the coverage.
Not only are the action sequences brilliantly laid out from a spatial perspective, but Schiff's tight editing keeps the pace breakneck for all of its 130 minutes. This is a rarest of films that actually could've gone longer without fostering many complaints.
This is without question the most technically complex of the three John Wick movies, and whether Stahelski and co. are dealing with a CGI-assisted motorcycle chase or mind-boggling long takes involving dogs, it's all pulled off with a balletic degree of grace.
If there isn't a more technically water-tight and downright impressive action movie released all year, it'd be no surprise at all.
