John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs
5. The Killer Supporting Cast
John Wick 3 certainly boasts the most star-studded cast of the trilogy, helping lend an enormous amount of charm to a world already brimming with it.
Especially note-worthy is Halle Berry as John's old pal Sofia, who gives arguably her best performance since her Oscar-winning turn in 2001's Monster's Ball. Whether she's squabbling with John or kicking ass, she's absolutely magnetic.
Also terrific are Lance Reddick, who gets a more expanded role as the Continetal's concierge Charon; Anjelica Huston as a shadowy member of the High Table; Asia Kate Dillon as the Adjudicator sent to audit the Continental; and of course, the ever-delightful Ian McShane as John's old mentor Winston.
But even the smaller roles add a ton of flavour here: Laurence Fishburne is a hoot as the returning Bowery King, and fans of The Matrix should keep their eyes peeled for Randall Duk Kim, who played The Keymaker in The Matrix sequels and appears here as a doctor helping John.
The ensemble as a whole slots together so well, and lends the film so much of its personality beyond the superlative set-pieces.
