Justice League: 10 Things That Have Threatened To Ruin The Hype
3. Ben Affleck Leaving The Batman (And The Other Director Departures)
There's a well established narrative around the DCEU already that they have a director problem. Already Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa have both left The Flash, Doug Liman has left Justice League Dark and Zack Snyder was forced to pull out of Justice League. And then, most notably of all, Ben Affleck stepped down from directing The Batman.
Different circumstances dictated all of those events, but once it starts to become a list, it looks more and more problematic (just ask the Star Wars guys who have a similar problem). It seems symptomatic of something more ominous - an issue with the studio's vision (or creative clashes) or their over-bearing pressures.
All of a sudden all of those movies losing directors makes it look like Justice League might be a problem, because it's possibly being made by an over-bearing studio who can't work with directors. And that's far from the best environment for making a perfect film.
