Justice League Snyder Cut: 10 Reasons It Could Be A TERRIBLE Idea
6. It Sets A Dangerous Precedent
While the official announcement of the Snyder Cut has certainly piqued the interest of movie fans around the world, as well as DCEU diehards that feel as though the director's intended vision had been torn to shreds, the decision to hand Snyder a fat stack of cash to finish his take on Justice League in the wake of a relentless fan campaign could set a dangerous precedent.
No filmmaker involved with the DCEU was hung out to dry quite like David Ayer on Suicide Squad, and having admitted on countless occasions that the studio butchered his antihero ensemble beyond the point of recognition, who's to say that two years from now, we won't be in the midst of the #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement that promises to paint Jared Leto's Joker in an entirely new light?
Star Wars fans are already demanding that Disney and Lucasfilm give them the Colin Trevorrow cut of The Rise of Skywalker, despite no evidence that such a thing even exists, so what's to stop them doing the same for Solo? Especially when Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were only three and a half weeks away from the end of shooting when they were unceremoniously dumped?
The success of the Snyder Cut campaign will have emboldened fans to believe that they can get anything they want, if they can generate enough publicity. Ultimately it could ultimately lead to studios being bombarded by overwhelming demands to bring other unfinished projects to completion.
