Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Louis Van Gaal Must Make Immediately

1. Marco Reus

Current Club: Dortmund. Again, another German player linked to United, which is perhaps understandable considering Van Gaal's association with Bayern Munich in the past. Van Gaal needs early statements of intent int he transfer market to counteract the bad feeling that came with David Moyes' perceived lack of haste in following his own targets (and the subsequent failure of most of them) and the acquisition of the player legitimately considered one of the best wingers in world football would be the perfect answer. The player has a ‚35m buy-out clause thatcomes into effect in 2015, so Dortmund are likely to be wary of losing him soon, even if it seems unlikely that they will allow him to leave the same summer as Lewandowski, who is joining Bayern. But news that Dortmund - who are far from the team they were last year - are looking to rebuild after a relatively underwhelming season might see them more likely to entertain bids for their prize assets, and if United's intentions are backed up with a sizeable offer, he could be one of the bankers. For their money, United would get a fast, productive winger who would add width to a side who failed to produce enough from the flanks this season, and with Robin Van Persie in the middle waiting to profit from good service, the former champions could well have a match made in heaven.
