3. The Prologue Is Mostly CGI (But The Truck Scene Wasn't)

Stunningly, one of the most impressive and memorable shots in the entire movie - of the levitating truck from the opening act - wasn't achieved using CGI. Instead, a large hydraulic rig was used to spin it at different speeds.

One long sequence that was heavily reliant on CGI, though, was the prologue, which wasn't actually in the movie to begin with. It was only added after test audiences said they wanted to know more about Malekith.

The sequence was achieved using CGI because the costumes the warriors all wore were too restrictive to fight in and move around convincingly, so everyone bar Malekith, Bor and Kurse were rendered using CGI, impressively.
